New Year, New Beginnings

It's the start of a new year, and many of us have made some New Year Resolutions. I've mentioned in an earlier post that my resolution would be to get organized in every sense of the word. Throughout the year I will post a series called organize me, where I will share some tips on how to organize all areas of your life. It will be a learning experience for me, and I'll share with you everything that I find. But we all know that keeping a new year resolution is not so easy, so here are some tips on how to see it through.

  1. Make it attainable: make your resolution something you know would be in your reach or realistic to attain. Sticking to a budget is attainable, becoming a millionaire...not so much.
   2. Tell others: when you tell other people, it makes you more accountable
for it. If you decide to quit smoking, you can tell your friends that you
will pay them $10 every time they catch you smoking.

   3. Write it down: write down your resolution in a place where you will see
it day after day. Use a post it note on the mirror, or jot it down in your
calender each month. Make a constant reminder for yourself.

   4. Start small: my resolution is to be organized, so I can focus on one
aspect each month. One month I will dedicate to organizing the house,
another on organizing recipes, another on organizing my budgeting,
and so on...like my husband tells me, "make small goals, then breeze
       past them."

    5. Keep record: keep a record of all the progress that you've made, so you
can see how far you have come and be proud! It will also motivate you
        to keep with it.

~ Good luck, and embrace the new year! XOXO ~
